When I think about nature, there is the desire to be outside
and experience the weather, sounds, and atmosphere. A limiting factor of being
outside is the missing comforts of being inside with comfy chairs, outlets, and
regulated temperature. In order to combine these desirable factors of nature
and indoors, the images created have an attitude of these combined environments
coexisting for a hybrid setting. Evolving from this initial idea was the
realization of how much time is spent inside a highly controlled and fairly
bland room in classes while not being able to spend much time outside. This was
aided in the decision making process to mix the nature into the inside
environment with adding trees, plants, and animals. As for the inside I wanted to lift the comfortable elements
of the inside that are not usually found outside that would encourage the
choice to spend time in nature such as a couch. Instead of using the stark
contrast of complementary colors or the closeness of analogous colors, the pallet
is majorly green and orange where the color pairing lies between these two
extremes. This to complement the coexisting elements of the elements from the
outside and inside worlds, but still allowing there to be visual distinctions. I
wanted to keep the vibrancy of the colors in the objects to simulate the
vibrancy of both the inside and nature that uncovers itself when the person is
enjoying the environment.
