Read Ch. 4 Illusion of Space,
Illusion of Motion and answer the following questions :
Which is more appropriate for your
idea: a flat design or a spatial design?
I believe that both flat and special
design can be appropriate, depending on the situation. Adding spatial elements
to a design gives the work more depth and can lead the eye around the different
points of perspective. Flat design are typically more simple and can be used in
more minimalist works. Flat designs could include icons and logos.
What happens when static (unmoving)
and dynamic (moving) shapes are used together in a design?
Visual fragmentation, where movement
is shown in afterimages. Objects can seem to be moving or create a space that embodies
movement.
Choose one artist in the reading who
you feel was most successful in their use of motion and space and write your
comments on him/her.
I fell that the artist that used space the best was
Salvador Dali in his piece Christ of St. John of the Cross. His use of two
point perspective makes for an interesting that kind of confuses me about the
right of viewing the picture.
