How would the composition change if one or more lines were removed?

- In a drawing or image, fewer lines makes the viewer concentrate more on the movement of the drawing than what the drawing is.

What happens when you combine flat, solid shapes with gradated shapes? Or fuse negative and positive?

-When art combines a solid shape with a gradated shape, it suggests volume and increases the illusion of space. The fuse of negative and positive allows the viewer to become more aware of the artwork’s physicality.

What happens when you invert the values-that is, the black areas become white and the black areas become black?

- Inverted values create multiple interpretations from minimal shapes

Choose an artist's piece from the chapter that you liked and talk about the methods used.

-David Mach made a cross-contour sculpture by bending coats hangers. He bent the hangers to form a human head. His method of cross-contour creates a powerful illusion of three dimensionality.
