Reading Response

How would the composition change if one or more lines were removed?
-If anything is removed from a piece that an artist intentionally put there, it could change the piece entirely. It could draw attention to the area with the empty space or draw attention away from an area where the audience was supposed to pay attention to, changing the entire composition.

What happens when you combine flat, solid shapes with gradated shapes? Or fuse negative and positive?
-Combining flat shapes with gradated shapes will make the gradated shapes stand out and become 3D. When fusing positive and negative, you can emphasize certain objects or areas.

What happens when you invert the values-that is, the black areas become white and the black areas become black?
-Doing this could create a dark, creepy feel to the piece; it confuses the eye and shows the audience something they aren't used to seeing in that way.

Choose an artist's piece from the chapter that you liked and talk about the methods used.
-I enjoyed Daniel Canogar's piece "Digital Hide 2". It looks like worms instead of fingerprints. He copied and pasted tons of fingerprints and overlapped them to create a worm-like appearance.
