Field Trip Questions

What is the most distinguishing feature in each place?
The most distinguishing part of the area behind Hume hall is the small stream. It seem like the most prominent thing in the area.
In the Reitz Union it would probably be the staircase. The stairs lead to the different floors in the building.

What is the purpose or goal of each place?
The purpose of the natural area behind Hume is for aesthetic appeal next to the parking garage. The Reitz Union is like a main hub area that contains restaurants, a bank, a hotel, and ballrooms

What is the essential quality of each place?
The area behind is leafy with small trees, branches, and a lot of mud. The stream seems quite shallow and murky.
The Reitz Union is large and contains many facilities. It is also very populated during the day.

How do people react to each place?
The leafy area behind Hume is often overlook, only to seen when people are parking their cars in the parking lot.
Usual visitors of the Reitz Union are used to the building but new visitors might be a bit astound by the large facility.

How do you explain/compare/contrast 2 places in terms of physical and psychological quality?
Both are completely different in almost every way. The Reitz Union is a busy hub area with stores and other facilities and has a large amount of traffic daily. The area behind Hume Hall is almost always deserted and is completely filled with trees and other flora.
Both are psychologically contradictory as well. The Reitz Union is busy with activity with the patrons and employees while the area behind Hume is solitary and quite giving a greater sense of serenity.

What is your definition of “natural place” and “unnatural place”?
A natural place would be a place untouched by man while an unnatural place would be a place entirely artificial and created by man.
