Group Field Trip

1. The most distinguishing feature of the Butterfly Gardens is (obviously) the butterflies. I think the most distinguishing feature of the Fine Arts Buildings for me is the type above the FAB entrances because it has a distinct art deco feel.

2. The purpose of the Butterfly Gardens is to study and provide a habitat for the butterflies, as well as educate people about their importance. The Fine Arts building serves the purpose of holding classes as well as providing a quiet and aesthetically-appealing place to study.

3. The essential quality of the Butterfly Gardens is serenity because of the beautiful butterflies, flowers, birds, etc. and the sound of the waterfalls. The essential quality of the Fine Arts buildings is structure because its layout and facade are perfect for getting work done.

4. The Butterfly Gardens evoke a sense of peace and wonder in its visitors, while the Fine Arts buildings make its visitors feel productive and undistracted.

5. Physically, places that are more open allow the visitor to feel they are not confined or crowded, but may also make one feel that they are more noticeable and thus they may act with more caution.

6. A simple definition of a "natural" place is a place that is largely made up of non-manmade items, while an "unnatural" place is mostly manmade.
