Group Field Trip! (:

Questions:

1. What is the most distinguishing feature in each place?
In the Butterfly Gardens, the butterflies where the most distinguishing feature (clearly). There are countless butterflies flying around the enclosed area that's full of trees, flowers, and other plants.

In the Fine Arts buildings, the red brick of the buildings is the focus. Each building is mainly made up of bricks and it's the main thing you see while you're in the area.

2. What is the purpose or goal of each place?
The goal of the Butterfly Gardens is to showcase butterflies to the public in a habitat that is comfortable to the butterflies. It's somewhat a sanctuary for the butterflies as the museum breeds many butterflies which can be seen in a room located right next to the gardens.

The purpose of the Fine Arts buildings is to hold classrooms for the arts department. It provides a space for artists to go and use materials that they need.

3.What is the essential quality of each place?
The quality of the Butterfly Gardens is very serene and pretty relaxing as the atmosphere is very natural and quiet. There's running water in the space which adds to this quality.

In the Fine Arts buildings the quality is academic as it is an area for school and it's very structured. It's an area where people go to study and work on homework.

4. How do people react to each place?
In the Butterfly Garden, most people react with a very happy feeling because it's really cool to walk in and see a large amount of butterflies flying around freely. Everywhere you look you can pretty much see one. It's also just like being in a forest which makes it seem like you've really entered a completely different space than like somewhere on campus.

When people enter the Fine Arts building area they usually react in a positive way as the architecture buildings are interesting and some people like brick more than others. Most fine arts students however may feel a little stressed as it's the source of their work.

5. How do you explain/compare/contrast 2 places in terms of physical and psychological quality?
You can compare two places in terms of physical qualities by if a place makes you feel worn out because you have to walk around a lot or climb stairs you'll have a more negative mood towards it. The Butterfly Gardens don't cause a lot of stress with the way its laid out as you can just stroll around leisurely. The psychological quality of each place contributes to how you feel about being in each place because of your experience there or what it's purpose is.

6.What is your definition of "natural place" and "unnatural place"?
I think a natural place is a place that contains a lot of plants, animals, insects, etc. It's a place where there is an abundance of actual living things as opposed to just buildings that have inanimate things in it. Unnatural places, simply put, are man-made.
