ASP Reading Response

I think that the reading is a little odd, but somewhat interesting. However, I think that the concept is rather overblown. High quality imagery is a result of improving technology, and conveying the imagery of the piece itself. There is certainly a place for low quality, but in my mind high quality is always more desirable in film, and low quality is a result of technological limitation. The concepts of the commodification of culture that the author implies in their article through high quality imagery is a nitpick that really leads to nowhere. Using low quality for an artistic purpose is one thing, but implying such meaning from film quality is, for me, a little over the top.
