SR In Defense of the Poor Image

It was interesting to read about the idea of a digital image as a unit with a sense of true origin, where quality is lost through a sort of digital deterioration in the processes of being compressed, reproduced,  copied and pasted. The author acknowledged the presence of a "cult of film guage" that surfaced as 35mm film became the preferred medium for film production. He suggested that the contemporary hierarchy of images was based primarily on film resolution, therefore limiting creative possibilities in the use of other film mediums that were of lesser visual acuity. With this in mind it seems like the author is implying a gradual depreciation of the value of digital media of lesser resolution.
