SR homework

Which is more appropriate for your idea: a flat design or a spatial design?
A spatial design might distract from the message I'm trying to get across, so a flat design

What happens when static (unmoving) and dynamic (moving) shapes are used together in a design?

Speaking theoretically and from my imagination, a design with both of those things would be effective for suggesting motion through the simple concept of relativity. A dynamic shape can easily contrast from a static one, creating visual interest.

Choose one artist in the reading who you feel was most successful in their use of motion and space and write your comments on him/her.

I think Wang Hui was very successful in his use of space in A Thousand Peaks and Myriad Revines. The vertical composition of the work causes the audiences eye to move up and down as they explore all the detailed forms from a birds-eye view. I also think the work is interesting because of the virtual quality of how extensive it is vertically. Starting from the top of the image the foreground seems to reveal itself in way that isn't even possible, as the rendering of elements suggest an extraordinary amount of depth and clarity.
